Problem

In the crowded market of casual games, Jacobs faced the challenge of standing out and creating a game that would capture the attention of a diverse audience, including both adults and children.

The objective was to design a game that would be simple yet addictive, with a clear connection to the Jacobs brand, while also providing a fun and rewarding experience that users would want to return to repeatedly.

Solution

To address this challenge, we developed a clicker game with an engaging storyline and dynamic gameplay. The player assumes the role of the main character, an office worker, tasked with managing a flood of documents that fall onto their desk. As the player processes these documents, their efficiency decreases, a key element tracked in the game’s interface. To restore efficiency, players must complete mandatory tasks such as taking a break to play chess, chatting with a colleague, or running on a treadmill.

To keep the gameplay interesting, we integrated a built-in mini-game of ping-pong, which can be triggered by clicking on a ping-pong table in the office. Additionally, unique tasks like drinking Jacobs 3-in-1 coffee are designed to fully restore the player’s efficiency, tying the game directly to the Jacobs brand. However, to add a layer of challenge, we introduced “trap tasks” where certain actions, like clicking on the boss or slipping on a banana peel, result in a loss of efficiency.

A special highlight of the game is the character of a corgi, drawn specifically for this project, which serves as the mascot of the campaign. The corgi adds a playful and endearing element to the game, appealing to both children and adults alike.

Outcome

The clicker game was met with great enthusiasm by users, appealing to a broad audience that included both adults and children. The combination of engaging gameplay, brand integration, and fun mini-games made it a hit among players.

The inclusion of the Jacobs 3-in-1 coffee as a key element in the game ensured that the brand was prominently featured in a positive and memorable way, reinforcing the association between Jacobs and a boost in energy and efficiency.

As a result

Our work on the Jacobs clicker game demonstrates how a well-designed and carefully crafted game can effectively promote a brand while providing entertainment. By blending simple yet addictive gameplay with brand elements and playful features like the corgi mascot, we were able to create a unique gaming experience that resonated with a wide audience.

This project is a testament to the power of gamification in digital marketing, showing how brands can engage their customers in creative and meaningful ways.
